Carmem is an associate with Oliver Wyman Labs, focusing on analytics and data science, as well as web application development. Carmem is based in our New York office, and is helping setup a new Latin America center for OW Labs.
Prior to joining OW Labs, Carmem worked as a data scientist in a location intelligence startup in NY. Carmem started out her career in the Technology division of a major US bank, where she later migrated to the business side. Always straddling the technical and business worlds across industries, she moved on to work in International Development, head up the data, research, and micro-targeting efforts of election campaigns in her native Brazil, and come back to the US to experience the startup world before joining OW Labs.
Since joining OW Labs, Carmem has worked on a variety of projects across the Americas. Carmem has managed data science projects including the development of predictive models for a major North American railroad and balance sheet optimization models for a major US bank, as well as developed dashboards for clients in retail and in financial services, among others.
Outside of work, Carmem enjoys “throwing her backpack on” to explore the sights, foods, and cultures of the four corners of the world, as well as exercising, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and learning new languages. Whether in NY or abroad, she can be found wearing off her shoes on the dance floor (with a focus on Brazilian and Latin beats, despite an eclectic music taste).
Carmem holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Harvard University, and is currently working towards her M.S. in Data Science at Columbia University.
